Mitsubishi aircon keeps turning off
There are three variations on the issue involving a Mitsubishi aircon that keeps turning off. Each type corresponds to a specific cause and resolution.

There are also many possible reasons for an air conditioning unit to keep turning off by itself. The most common causes include refrigerant leaks or low refrigerant levels, frozen evaporator coils, thermostat issues, overheating problems, dirty or clogged air filters, electrical supply or circuit problems, and short cycling issues.
All refrigerant-related issues and circuit problems will require a visit from an aircon service professional. There is no possible DIY solution to a damaged and leaking chiller pipe. There is also no DIY solution to refill servicing of refrigerant gas. You won’t be able properly repair damaged wires, burnt PCB terminals and malfunctioning circuit boards, either.
Note, too, how frozen evaporator coils can be related to refrigerant issues. Frozen evaporator coils can be caused by a pressure differential between the inside of the refrigerant pipe and the outside of the pipe. So when your aircon system does not have enough refrigerant to circulate, it creates a low pressure area inside the pipe–all in all leading to frozen coils.
If your aircon keeps turning off because of dirty , clogged air filters and thermostat issues these are scenarios you can address by yourself. To clean the aircon filter, remove the front panel hatch of the indoor unit and unclip the air filter. Scrub it clean first under soapy water. Then rinse and air dry completely before putting it back in the air conditioner. For a thermostat issue causing an aircon to turn off, simply check and carefully review your AC timer settings.
Solving sudden overheating problems that cause your aircon to automatically turn off is tricky. This is best left to experienced technicians. Check if there is anything blocking the air flow to the outdoor unit. Overheating can also happen if you have added heat sources to the room. If your Mitsubishi air conditioner’s cooling capacity is not rated to handle the extra heat, this will force it to overwork and draw more electricity. Worse, the repetitive turning off of your AC can be a compressor-related issue.
