Where is your Mitsubishi Aircon leaking water from?
For instance, if you are not sure, a simple way to find out is just to take a picture and send it to us. However, the photo may be hard to capture the part in which it is dripping water. So you may have to circle it as well. Hence, below are several areas in which it can drip water from.
From the FRONT of the fan coil unit
If your Mitsubishi Aircon is leaking water from the front, it is highly likely that your drainage pipe is choked. In any case, the choke can be anywhere inside the drainage line. Thus, usually a normal servicing can solve this issue. Depending on where the choke is, this problem can affect several fan coil units. Moreover, If the choke is towards the end of the drainage line towards the floor trap, all your fan coil unit may experience Aircon leaking water issues. Hence, it is advisable to use bigger drainage pipe during the installation process.
Mitsubishi Aircon leaking water from BACK of the fan coil
If it is dripping water from the back of the fan coil, chances are that your backtray is choked instead. Backtrack cannot be cleared by doing normal servicing. This is because there is water accumulated at a very tiny portion at the back of the fan coil unit. Their whole unit has to be dismantled in order to access this portion. And usually when the whole unit is dismantled, we will advise customers to do a chemical overhaul with it. As it takes similar effort, dismantle the entire unit and do a chemical overhaul with it. However, do note that aircon dripping water from the back tray is not as common. It does not accumulate water that easily there. It takes a long time for that issue to occur.
From Aircon trunking or ceiling
Undeniably, this is by far the most difficult problem to resolve. If you notice there are black marks anywhere along your trunking or false ceiling, it could be a sign of aircon condensation occurring in those areas. This is assuming the copper pipe is installed within your false ceiling. In addition, it is extremely difficult to pinpoint which part of the system is causing condensation issues. Also, causes may also due to a breakage within the connection point of the insulation. Hence condensation starts at the tiny portion of the breakage and it starts spreading towards the whole insulation. Other times, it could just be normal wear and tear of the insulation.

Drainage Pipe Choke
As mentioned earlier in one of the paragraphs, the highest probability is that your drainage pipe is choked. Is there any way to solve this issue permanently?
With the current science available, there isn’t. However, we do notice that for people using ceiling cassette units. There appears to be a lesser incidence of Aircon leaking water due to drainage pipe choked. This is because for every ceiling cassette there is a water pump to pump the water into the drainage pipe. Hence the water pressure flowing out of the drainage pipe is higher. Therefore, there are lesser incidences of drainage pipe choke.
Dirty Aircon
Do you know that a dirty Aircon unit can cause higher incidence of condensation in your Aircon system? That is because a dirty Aircon unit can cause higher pressure build up as the Air flow is blocked. Hence there is a greater chance of condensation at the piping. Hence, it is extremely important to do your Aircon servicing regularly.
Fan speed is too low
Similar to a dirty Aircon, if your fan speed is too low, that may affect the pressure level at the piping. Because the airflow is slower, it will lead to higher incidence of condensation issues. Evidently, some of our customers are shocked at how turning the fan speed higher can immediately resolve condensation issues. Others are appalled at the need to turn on higher fan speed in order to prevent this problem. Regardless, we find that it is advisable to turn on higher fan speed for the longevity of your Aircon system.

How to Solve Mitsubishi Aircon Leaking Water?
Normal Servicing
If your Mitsubishi aircon is leaking water due to a drainage pipe choke, the easiest way to solve it is to do normal servicing. The scope of normal Aircon servicing will include clearing your drainage pipe using a vacuum. This will usually resolve the process unless it is extremely congested and cannot be cleared using the pressure of a vacuum clear. Other equipment such as an Air compressor may have to be used instead.
Chemical Overhaul
As mentioned earlier, If the water is dripping from the back of the fan coil unit. Following this, you will have to dismantle the whole fan coil unit to access the back tray area where water is accumulated there. Do note that a normal chemical wash in which chemical is sprayed at the top of the fan coil without dismantling it will not help. So if you were ever advised to do chemical wash, go for chemical overhaul instead. Indeed, t is more thorough.
Changing insulation inside trunking/ false ceiling
Sometimes there are only certain areas of the trunking in which it is leaking water. Hence, this issue may be resolved by changing insulation only within that area. However, the technician may need to check carefully and only propose to change that area if he is confident. Nevertheless, sometimes customers may request to change an isolated area first as it is extremely expensive to replace the entire set of piping.
Adjusting water pipe level
If your Mitsubishi Aircon is leaking water every month due to drainage pipe choke. It may be time to relook at the Aircon drainage pipe level. Additionally, some areas may require a more steep gradient for the water to flow out. Do note that if there are no right gradient, the water cannot even flow out. So it is a matter of diagnosing which part of the water pipe can be adjusted to allow for more water flow. Sometimes the layout of the house prevents this from happening at all.

Does Mitsubishi Aircon leak more water than other brands?
No, there are no defects inside a Mitsubishi fan coil unit that causes it to leak water more than other brands, Most of the time Aircon leaking water is due to normal dirty accumulation within the drainage pipe. However, there are times in which the insulation at the back of the fan coil is torn, hence there are condensation issues occurring at that part. However, we have not heard of higher incidence of defects in Mitsubishi fan coils.
Will Mitsubishi Aircon leaking water affect my parts?
No, the part in which the Aircon is dripping water is from the front of the unit. It will not be in direct contact with other Aircon parts. Furthermore, if the condenser unit is leaking water, the leak will also occur only at the bottom part of the condenser unit. Hence it will not come into contact with other part of the compressor.
Will it be covered under warranty?
That depends on what service you are doing. If you just installed a new aircon unit it will be covered with installation warranty. However, if you just did normal servicing, there may only be one month warranty for water leaking due to drainage pipe leak.
