EEG Grant for Aircon: Up to 70% Off Energy-Efficient Air-Conditioning

The Energy Efficiency Grant (EEG) is a Singapore Government scheme that co-funds eligible businesses to replace their aircon with energy-efficient units. We help Retail, F&B, and Manufacturing businesses check eligibility, choose a pre-approved unit, and apply — from site visit to claim.

Our technicians handle the site visit, quotation, and pre-approved unit matching for your EEG grant application.

The Basics

What is the EEG Grant?

Administered by Enterprise Singapore, the EEG helps local businesses lower their electricity bills and carbon footprint by co-funding the purchase of energy-efficient equipment — including commercial aircon. It is not insurance and it is not a loan: it is a straightforward cost-share on equipment you are already planning to buy. If your aircon qualifies as 5-tick (multi/single split) or at least 3-tick (VRF systems), the government pays a percentage of the unit cost directly toward your purchase.

Eligibility

Who Qualifies

Food Services

Check your company’s SSIC codes on ACRA — you typically have a primary and a secondary code, and only one needs to match. Companies must also be registered in Singapore with at least 30% local shareholding.

Process

How to Apply, Step by Step

  1. 1Check your eligibilityConfirm your primary/secondary SSIC falls under Retail, Food Services, or Manufacturing, and that your company has at least 30% local shareholding.
  2. 2Get a quotationWe conduct a site visit and quote pre-approved units wherever possible, so your application matches the grant list.
  3. 3Apply on the BGP 2.0 portalSubmissions go through apply.gov.sg/grants/business — the older grant portal will not show this application. Be accurate about your aircon’s usage rate, as low usage can lead to rejection.
  4. 4Wait for approval before purchasingEquipment bought before approval is not eligible for a claim. Approval typically takes up to 10 weeks.
  5. 5Purchase and installOnce approved, proceed with purchase and installation of the unit.
  6. 6Submit your claimYou have 1 year after approval to claim — best done right after installation while paperwork is fresh.
Why Timing Matters

Apply Before You Need It

Pile of old broken aircon units removed in Singapore, a reason to apply for the EEG grant before yours fails
Don’t wait for a breakdown — approval takes up to 10 weeks.

Approval can take up to 10 weeks. If you wait until your aircon actually breaks down to start the process, your business could be without cooling for weeks while the application clears. Getting approval in hand now means that if a unit fails, or if you’re renovating a new space, you can move straight to installation without losing operating days.

Operating now

Apply before your aircon fails, so a breakdown becomes a fast swap instead of a multi-week wait.

Moving into a new unit

Apply right after signing your lease — piping installation usually starts at the beginning of renovation.

Landlords & tenants

Landlords can work out a co-payment with tenants; tenants benefit from a longer-lasting, lower-cost-to-run unit even without owning the space.

FAQ

Common Questions

Enterprise Singapore states only the actual equipment purchase is supportable, excluding delivery, installation, and other admin charges. In practice, your vendor should itemise the pre-approved equipment clearly so it can be submitted correctly for the grant.

No, GST is not covered by the grant.

Your declared usage rate for the aircon matters — the grant exists to help you save energy cost, so if the usage rate doesn’t justify meaningful savings, the application may not be approved.

Usually 1 year, though this is subject to the specific approval details on your grant letter.

Yes. We recommend a careful site assessment upfront so changes and re-approval time are kept to a minimum.

No, you cannot change vendor once approved. You can, however, cancel the application and reapply.
