Aircon chemical overhaul is the process of reconditioning or cleaning of airconditioner using a certain type of chemical wash. Aircon chemical overhaul helps to clean the aircon as well as different parts of the aircon. The process helps to bring the Aircon back to its original working condition.
The build-up of dirty particles can restrict airflow into the evaporator coil. Excessive dirt and dust reduce aircon efficiency and increases overall energy consumption. This can be identified especially if the air from the aircon is puffed out intermittently rather than smoothly. Thankfully, this can be easily be negated by a regular chemical overhaul.
Backtray choking could potentially lead to leakage, this is caused by build-up of dirt and sometimes algae. Aircon with leaking issues could reduce air quality and requires high-pressure cleaning to clear off all debris. Users who use the unit consistently are advised to clean at least once a year
Drainage pipe choke, choke back tray, condensation of copper pipe & loose connections of water pipe could all lead to water leakage in your aircon units. An Aircon Chemical overhaul (Full Chemical Wash) will resolve the choking issues. For other issues like condensation and loose piping will require more in depth investigation and repairs.

Aircon chemical wash simply means the cleaning of a unit with a chemical solution. The motherboard of the fan coil will be wrapped with a waterproof material to prevent water damage to the motherboard, and inexperienced technicians might not handle this well. Chemical overhaul means a full clean of your unit. The gas will be locked, this will be done by climbing out to the condensing unit and switching it off. Our technicians will then proceed to do a full dismantling of the fan coil and this allows us to clean it thoroughly on both sides!
The biggest difference? A chemical washing cleans the surface and front end of the fan coil but a chemical overhaul cleans the whole fan coil!
We do not recommend normal chemical wash as it can never wash your fan coil unit thoroughly. Because of that, there will be a residual chemical agent. This chemical agent can corrode your Fan coil unit. Furthermore, normal chemical cleaning will not be able to wash your back tray. Hence your aircon might still leak if your back tray is choked. In addition, there could be potential damage to your electrical components during the chemical wash.

Generally you don’t have to schedule a time to do chemical overhaul. Your technicians will be able to advise you that they will have to do chemical overhaul the next trip. Or sometimes they will be able to do for you on the spot. You will only need to do Aircon chemical overhaul on these 2 conditions. Either your Aircon evaporator coil is clogged and Air is not blowing smoothly. Or water is leaking from the back tray. For normal Aircon users. You generally only need to do once a year or once every 2 years. Nonetheless, do take note that when the time comes for you to do chemical overhaul. Do not opt for normal chemical cleaning instead. It will be a waste of your money.
