The Daikin J7 error code indicates either a possible thermistor malfunction or a defect in the outdoor PCB where the thermistor is connected. To clear a Daikin J7 error, you might need to replace the outdoor thermistor or the outdoor PCB, whichever is found to be faulty. Depending on the aircon model you are using, the starting price for replacing an outdoor thermistor is $150 while that for an outdoor PCB is $250.

A Daikin J7 error code indicates a fault in the liquid pipe thermistor connected to the refrigerant and other circuits. The possible causes of a J7 error readout include a defective liquid pipe thermistor, which is more or less a sensor, or a failure in either the outdoor unit printed circuit board (PCB) or the contact point in the connector.
Note that both the thermistor and PCB units being referred to here are components of the Daikin outdoor unit that you must be careful not to touch while the aircon is still plugged in. One possible J7 scenario is a malfunctioning liquid pipe thermistor, which is connected to the outdoor PCB, measuring a resistance that is out of range so it ends up signaling the PCB motherboard and thereby showing a J7 error readout (or simultaneously shutting down the unit to prevent it from being damaged further).
Check the setting of your Daikin remote. It should be controlling the indoor aircon setting. Hold down the timer cancel button for at least five seconds. You should hear a long beeping sound and see a change in the temperature display. The display will now show an error code readout where you will find the J7 code, if a reset has not cleared it yet.
Minor issues tend to respond to a basic reset, or the simple long press and release of the On/Off remote button thrice. A hard reset might also work as a fix to a false J7 error code reading. To do this, switch off the Daikin aircon using the remote control and then unplug it from the power outlet. Wait for a few minutes before plugging the unit back in and then restarting it.
Alternatively, if you get a J7 error, at least try to reset the error codes first through your Daikin unit’s remote control. To do this, hold down the timer cancel button on the remote for five seconds. You should see a flashing 00 on the display. Release the cancel button and press it again until there is a beeping sound and a code appears on the remote display. If the J7 error code is still there after you have completed the routine motions for an error code display reset, then perhaps it’s time to consider seeking professional assistance. Silverback Aircon offers free consultation over Whatsapp and can help you diagnose, troubleshoot, and ultimately repair whatever malfunctioning part is causing the J7 error.
Contact Silverback Aircon through our Whatsapp, so we can address the technical problem with your Daikin unit and also provide you with a quote on the cost of repair. The cost of replacing an outdoor aircon PCB unit, depending on the type, ordinarily ranges from $200 to $800. Thermistor replacement price range, on the other hand, is between $150 and $250. All Daikin-specific model spare parts are on hand.
Silverback Aircon has a stockpile of expertly maintained refurbished Daikin spare parts, including PCBs and thermistors which may be behind the J7 error you keep getting. The replacement cost will, of course, depend on the specific type and model of PCB and thermistor. Consultation with our Daikin specialists is free through our Whatsapp, so don’t hesitate to call us. And before you do, kindly note down the model number of the outside condenser unit which you can find on your invoice, as well as the Daikin indoor unit model which is printed on the right hand side of the fan coil.
